50Gram x Swanicoco

I am not a straight up make person but I am always on the hunt to find the best lipstick in the town. Recently, I was introduced to couple of Korean product and one of it is by the renowned brand in Korea ; Swanicoco. Before I begin talking about the product itself, let me have the honor to talk a little more about Swanicoco.

Swanicoco – the hottest brand in Korea.

Initially, Swanicoco started off by producing naturally fermented soaps, where they were determined to produce the best outcome by precisely selecting the best medicinal herbs before getting into the next process such as boiling and fermentation.  As we speak about this brand, they are currently ranked the top natural cosmetic brand in Korea – mainly an impact from their core value where they believe only products that are 100% made from natural ingredients able to bring the best results. This is strongly proved by the existence of the word “Natural” on their logo ( refer to the image below ).

The word “Natural” is a symbol of being a representative natural cosmetics company.

If you are curious about the name “Swanicoco” , worry not because I have been there too ! How did they came across this unique name and what does is really meant? Well, “Swanicoco” means the pursuit of the elegance of a swan while “Coco” means Coconut which again emphasizes their love for natural product, but “Coco” also means cute in French – how creative is that? Pretty much, they are a brand that not only creative but also, puts in great work to create products that is effective for both men and women.

50Gram is an online florist shop that is quite known to Malaysians. They offer various flower bouquet for various occasions, be it for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day , Graduation, well you name it, they have it !  There aren’t only focusing but also alternative options like Plush toys, merchandise even juice – now that is innovative.  Adding into the bucket, 50Gram is the only company that is currently selling Show The Velvet Lipstick – Juliet Red and the product recently went live on their site on 18 September 2018.

Show The Velvet Lipstick – Juliet Red

Show The Velvet Lipstick, black edition is basically a limited edition lipstick produced by the brand. Comes in three different shade but I am lucky enough to get my hands on the shade “Juliet Red”( the other two is called “Pink Blossom” & “Shine Orange”.  The main attraction of this lipstick is the packaging, where it comes in a sexy black box with a tint of red and a chalk illustration of the lipstick. Being a person who adores anything minimalistic, the packaging is definitely worth saving – and the lipstick comes in a tube of the same color combination minus the illustration. The color shade is really pretty -I love how the red color looks perfect, almost like the lipsticks I’d draw in my notebook, the cartoon lipsticks or the drawings we usually see around.

As for the shape of the lipstick, I love the slendering toward the tip of it where it is quite useful while applying on the lip. This allows the lipstick to be apply smoothly on the lip, reaching the curved corners without leaving traces of it. The lipstick surprisingly smells good – it has very floral pleasant fragrance to it and it kind of got me wanting to smell it over and over again without applying it on my lips. I literally moved around my office getting my colleagues to smell the lipstick which they liked as well.  So BINGO

IngredientsOctyldodecanol, Isononyl Isononanoate, Silica, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Isoeicosane, Ozokerite, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Microcrystalline Wax, Paraffin, Phenyl Trimethicone, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Kaolin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Caprylyl Glycol, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Hexylene Glycol, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Ci 15850, Ci 45410, Ci 15985, Ci 19140, Ci 15850.

Swatches and Application

I tried applying the lipstick and turned out that the color is quite bright for my brown skin tone. Although the lipstick has a pretty shade to look at, the color didn’t turn out to be the same ; it was more orange-ish red rather then just red. It did provide me an immediate “alive” look given the fact that I am not fond of wearing makeup to work, I alternatively use this lipstick slightly ( more like a tint ) on my lips and cheeks. So here’s the thing, I do not own blusher(s) because for some reason, I just cannot find the right shade for my skin tone so I end up lightly applying my red lipsticks onto my cheeks to give the “flushed” look, which worked quite well with Swanicoco’s  Show The Velvet Lipstick – Juliet Red .

However, for a better visual understanding, I have applied this lipstick on four different skin tones – Pale, yellow, light brown and caramel ! The results are as following :

As you can see the color is not that different from all the skin tone – you can still see the orange – red tone but how deep the red color does change with the skin tone – so this can be applied by any skin tone – but preferably lighter skin tone babes !

What do I think ?

I honestly find this product is good and is indeed a worthy investment however, I will not buy it again for the second time and this is only because I am not quite fond of the bright color this lipstick carries. However, I might give it a try for the other two shades , just in case it suits my skin tone. As for the price, well it is not pocket friendly, but the quality is good, so you can definitely invest a little if you are looking for a subtle lipstick.

This lipstick retail at RM 88.95 , and you can purchase it here : https://50gram.com.my/product/swnccstvljr/ . Swanicoco’s Show The Velvet Lipstick – Juliet Red is only available on 50Gram’s website and it is limited edition, which means it it will not be restocked again, so go and purchase it while stock lasts.

I hope this was informative enough and till next time *toodles*
